CITY OF NAPLES GORDON RIVER PARK UPDATE:
MHK ARCHITECTURE & PLANNING recently organized and completed two public input design charrettes for the City of Naples Gordon River Park. The design charrettes had a successful public turn-out and collected valuable information on the public’s desire for the programmed components of the park. The charrette process provided numerous inspirational park examples and images that were scrutinized by the participants. The consensus of the data collected heavily favored natural landscapes and a minimization of structured areas within the park. Public access points and activities that encouraged the public to access the Gordon River including view corridors, terracing steps and seating, kayak launches, small boat moorings and viewing platforms were encouraged in the data received from the charrette.
The upcoming design charrettes will take place Friday, November 22nd from 3PM to 5PM and Saturday, November 23rd from 10AM to 12PM. Both charrettes will take place at City Council Chambers at City Hall located 735 8th Street South, directly across from Cambier Park. The design consultant has committed to a Friday evening and a Saturday morning in order to give the public multiple opportunities to attend the event.
The focus of the design charrette will be to present, study and comment on two preliminary park design concepts that will be provided by MHK ARCHITECTURE & PLANNING. The preliminary design concepts will be derived from the data collected from the initial public input meetings.
We encourage you to come to the upcoming design charrettes this weekend and give your input on the park. The concepts will encourage public input and dynamic conversations on the future park components. For more information, please visit the park master plan website at www.NaplesGordonRiverPark.com
